Foundation Highlight: Comet Care Closet

How It Started

When district officials from Coventry Local Schools sat down with us and identified that a Care Closet would help students in need at the high school, we got to work! First, we found a space, built it out, and then provided racks, bins, cubbies, hangers, and other essential items necessary for a workable boutique experience. Friends of the Foundation provided the sweat equity and all other identified expenses.

Powerful Community Response

When the Care Closet opened, the response was awe-inspiring and powerful. We declined naming rights, as we believe remaining anonymous helps to remove a barrier to access for students in need or crisis. Comet Care Closet was the name agreed upon!

Providing More Than Essential Items

In addition to new clothes, the Comet Care Closet provides Personal Care Product Kits which include shampoo, conditioner, soap, combs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, deodorant, various feminine hygiene products, and hand soap. These items empower numerous students to take ownership of their needs. The result is kids coming to school ready to learn!

Community Success Stories

Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest impact.
These are just some of the ways our foundation works to connect our community through caring and kindness.

Supporting Wreath Across America

Friends of the Foundation volunteered for Wreath Across America, laying wreaths on every veteran’s grave in two local cemeteries. We also become an annual steward of an adopt-a-spot memory garden. We believe that giving back through action is just as impactful as giving financially!

New Bike Delivered to Local Student

Coventry Local Schools’ guidance department requested the funds from TST Foundation to repair a student’s damaged bicycle. The student uses the bike for transportation to/from school and his part-time job. The student is studying at the career center in the paramedic firefighter program. After the bike was deemed unrepairable, the foundation procured, assembled and delivered a new bike and bike lock to the student.
