Connecting Community Through Caring & Kindness

The TST Foundation was created around the concept of Friends of the Foundation, who recognize the need to connect community through caring and kindness. Tari was a great example of that. We are committed to following her shining example.

Identifying The Community Gap

We began with meeting with district officials from Coventry Local Schools and hearing from support staff. It was then brought to our attention that the socioeconomics of the district left many children without many of the essentials they needed, negatively impacting their readiness to learn.

Getting to Work to Close the Gap

In our first year, we raised seed money to plan a gala, expecting 75-100 guests. The turnout for our first annual Friends of the Foundation Gala was well above our estimate – and above the venue’s maximum capacity! To say it was a rousing success is an understatement.

In Honor of
Tari Sams Tracy

Tari was a proud graduate and standout athlete of Coventry Local Schools who was adored by many. Colon cancer took Tari’s life too soon in 2021. During her time here, generosity was Tari’s superpower. While her life was shortened due to this cruel disease, Tari’s work will continue.

After the gala, our hearts were full. We were ready to get to work.

We continued to work with the district guidance department to identify 2 specific needs:

  • Personal Care Product Kits for students identified in need or crisis
  • New Clothing including undergarments, socks, pants, jeans, shirts, hoodies, coats, winter gloves, and winter hats

The district counselors also identified 1 specific need:

  • Grief/Crisis Bags filled with recommended items to assist when staff is responding to a student experiencing a loss or family emergency that may temporarily hinder their classroom learning experience

We have worked to CLOSE the gaps we identified in the local school district. One of our most significant efforts has been establishing a Comet Care Closet at the high school to provide new clothing and personal care items for free to any student who needs them.

We’re Still Spreading Kindness!

Thanks to the generous support of our Friends of the Foundation, we continue to extend many other benevolent and volunteer efforts in our community.
